In the last days of March the Shop was thrilled to receive an unexpected visit from the outgoing High Sheriff, Mrs Amanda Ponsonby, who came to present them with a High Sheriff’s Award. These awards are made annually by the High Sheriff and are more usually awarded to individuals.
However, during her shrieval and pandemic year (the High Sheriff’s year runs from April to March) Mrs Ponsonby felt that it would be much more appropriate to make the awards this year to groups or organisations across the county whose team efforts had made a very valuable contribution to their community during the pandemic.
Appleton Community Shop was delighted to be recognised in this way and particularly pleased that the Award was and is for everyone – the whole team who have kept the shop open, well stocked and safe during the last year, supported by those who have buddied up with, cared for and looked after their friends and neighbours.
Thank you everybody and congratulations!
