Appleton Sportsfield and Pavilion Questionnaire

For those who are not familiar or have not visited Appleton Sportsfield and Pavilion: it is a large field on the outskirts of the village with a car park and small Pavilion. There is space for 2 football pitches and 1 cricket pitch. The Pavilion includes a kitchen, social space, changing rooms, showers and toilets. It was originally built in the 1980s and over the years has provided a valuable amenity for the village.

The Field and Pavilion are available to hire, either separately or together. It is currently used regularly by football and cricket teams, and by the scouts. It is also hired sometimes for parties or other events.

The Pavilion is now in some need of updating, and the Parish Council has formed a working group to look into how this might be done to maximise the benefits to the village. The Group has already consulted the user groups, and would now like to ask for your views. The Village Hall Committee is aware of and supports this approach. Please do take the time to contribute to the consultation as we would like as many views and ideas as possible, from all ages and groups in the village.

We are very keen to get a sense of what the village would like the Sportsfield/Pavilion to be/what kind of facilities to include. If anything were possible, how would you like to see it developed? – both for individuals and groups.

As well as a facility for those who live in Appleton and Eaton, the Group is considering how to make the Field/Pavilion attractive to others for hiring, as a source of income. The Village Hall Committee is aware of and supports this approach. We would welcome your views and ideas on this.
